  17. <p>     More trouble for talented but temperamental Kim Basinger.
  18. After playing prima donna on the set of her last film, she's now
  19. backed out of the title role in Boxing Helena, the would-be
  20. directorial debut of Jennifer Lynch (daughter of shockmaster
  21. David), prompting the film's producers to file a $5 million
  22. lawsuit. "I can't simply shove anybody into the role," says
  23. Lynch. "It's a very intense, demanding part." Indeed: the
  24. character loses her limbs and is kept in a box by an obsessive
  25. lover. Lynch believes Basinger's bailout "stems from fear," but
  26. Kim's lawyer cited "classic creative differences" and insisted,
  27. "She never signed anything." Does that mean Lynch hasn't got a
  28. leg to stand on?
